Casey Banas Achieves Her Long Term Goal at Buffalo Lodging Associates

Meet Casey Banas, the General Manager at Sleep Inn Buffalo Amherst! About 9 years ago, Casey was a hospitality student at Buffalo State. She knew she wanted to get into the hospitality field, but wasn’t sure what position was right for her. Through determination and patience, she landed a night auditor position at Buffalo Lodging’s Hampton Inn Buffalo Airport which is where her successful journey began.

During her first two years of working at our hotel, Casey illustrated her flexibility by helping out wherever needed. She explored many different positions within the hotel including night auditor, housekeeper, executive housekeeper and breakfast attendant. This allowed her to learn about how a hotel operated and all the working parts it takes to be successful. After getting her feet wet in just about anything she could, she decided that her 5-10 year goal was to become a General Manager.

Once Casey’s co-workers and bosses learned of her newly found goal, they were determined to help her learn everything that she would need to in order to be prepared for when a GM position became available. During the next few years of her career, she received many promotions. From being the Front Office Supervisor to opening the Courtyard Buffalo Airport as a Bistro Supervisor, Casey was expanding her knowledge through new experiences and was on the right path to achieving her dream.

Casey then traveled down to Buffalo Lodging’s corporate office in Canton, MA to participate in a Field Sales Support internship. She was able to work in the eCommerce department, where she assisted in auditing and updating the hotels’ websites. On top of this, she underwent training programs and actual sales experience in the field. Once the yearlong program was complete, she was offered a higher sales position where she was an Acting Director of Sales for 2 properties.

She was quickly promoted to Assistant General Manager position at the newly opened Courtyard Buffalo Downtown where she continued to illustrate hard work and the ability to lead. In June of this year, a GM position opened at the Sleep Inn Buffalo Amherst. Casey’s supervisors knew she was ready for the next step. She was offered the opportunity and gladly accepted. Congratulations Casey, and thanks for illustrating the ability to move up the ladder with hard work and perseverance!
